The Place
The Place is a new £6 million arts and business centre built on the site of the former Manor Hotel in the Sunniside Conservation Area of Sunderland. The design demonstrates how contemporary architecture can work successfully to enhance distinctive historic environments.
Artist Kathryn Hodgkinson designed the striking glass sun shields, which depict historic architectural details from the surrounding neighbourhood.
