Eleven unique ‘talking’ solar sound posts have been installed in the Port of Blyth, Northumberland. The sound posts are the culmination of a yearlong project of gathering stories of the local people and their memories and aspirations, as well as developing an innovative technology to replay these stories.
Each post has a different subject focus: ranging from each of the human senses to seven key activities associated with the port. Any number of sounds can be stored internally and when a person approaches a post the story, song or sound replays.
